Emmet appears generally friendly and cheerful in nature, but sometimes looks can be deceiving! Emmet is generally the more rude of the two Subway Bosses, though this isn't usually on purpose. He's very excitable, blunt, and often openly speaks his mind without thinking or taking into consideration how others might feel about his words. Emmet is very competitive and can get overly intense sometimes, especially during Pokemon battles or any type of game or challenge between him and another person. He loves proving his skills and ability to others by winning, doesn't mind losing despite what he says. Overall, Emmet just likes thrill and to have fun. Sometimes can be a bit of a sore loser not out of pride, but because he is incredibly defeatist in nature. He is self conscious with an incredibly low self esteem despite putting up a confident front. Emmet is typically more overall strategic in battles than Ingo and most often has the higher number of wins between the two. However, he still feels like he will never be as good as Ingo and always feels more confident in the presense of him and/or his pokemon.He has a low tolerance for frustration and can have a bit of a bad temper. He heavily relies on his brother to help him keep his frustration and emotions in check, reign in his high energy, and remind him to try to be nice/think before speaking. Without Ingo it can be difficult for Emmet to keep calm which can often result in him lashing out. Despite his overall cautiousness, Emmet enjoys taking calculated risks and is a bit of an adrenaline junkie. He will often act more recklessly when Ingo is not around.Morally, Emmet is some sort of neutral- a bit of a mix between lawful and chaotic but not necessarily true neutral either. He has generally low empathy for people unless he is extremely close with them, and other than Ingo these people are few and far between. He has a major disdain for the original Team Plasma, but not really because of their crimes. Emmet typically only has strong feelings on crime when they affect him, his brother, or the subway. He simply dislikes Plasma's hypocritical insistence that keeping and battling with Pokemon is wrong, when they do the same in turn. Because of this, he admittedly doesn't have many opinions on other criminal organizations in the Pokemon world.He dislikes anyone who tries to tell him that his ideals are wrong and he doesn't condone things that actively hurt others, but he tends to look the other way when it comes to general crime so long as it does not directly affect him, Ingo, or the subway. He's strict about the rules set in place by him and Ingo at the subway, but can sometimes have a bit less respect for rules and laws set in place by others. He highly respects those he agrees with. Those he doesn't agree with are followed less enthusiastically and Emmet often looks for 'loopholes' to avoid them. He will always take any and all safety protocols and traffic laws very seriously.Emmet is the 'order' to Ingo's 'chaos', and the 'justice tarot' to Ingo's 'judgement tarot'.

Born to a middle class couple in Anville Town, their parents hadn't been expecting twins. They weren't purposefully neglectful, just ill prepared to do twice of the parental work than they had initially expected. This resulted in the twins being left to their own devices and to take care of themselves a significant amount of time which lead to a noticeable co-dependency between the pair from a very early age.Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and Autism, Emmet was often reprimanded by behaviors he couldn't control. He was always the louder and rowdier one of the pair, the one who spoke without thinking, the one who interrupted their parents when they were trying to speak. His high energy was incredibly difficult to keep up with and frequently got him into 'trouble' both around the house and at school. He struggled in school, frequently receiving low and failing grades, which only frustrated his parents further, especially when looking at Ingo's fairly good grades in comparison. It wasn't uncommon for adults in his life to ask him in exasperated tones why he couldn't be as well behaved or good in school as Ingo.Other kids thought he and Ingo were weird and creepy. It didn't help that Emmet remained largely nonverbal until the start of his third or fourth school year, which resulted in quite a bit of bullying. Emmet got into frequent fights with other children, often not knowing how else to express his frustration and upset, even once he began speaking around others. Though this behavior was noticed at school, it was handled somewhat poorly, administration deciding that the best course of action was to keep the pair of brothers apart as much as possible. Emmet did not handle this well, throwing frequent tantrums and having meltdowns when forcibly separated from his brother Emmet could no longer lean over and ask Ingo to explain lessons in a way that he would understand, resulting in his grades lowering even more. Without Ingo to calm him down or tell him it wasn't worth it, he started getting into even more fights.However, Emmet was still able to find enjoyment in his childhood. He liked chasing after wild Pokemon and coming home covered in Joltiks despite his parents' frustration with the infestation that was beginning to form in their home. He liked playing and hiding in the out of service subway tunnels and planning a future with his brother. The trains were always comforting to him. He grew up somewhat isolated without many friends and in a small town far away from any others. As the trains were the only real way out of town, they symbolized freedom and served as a gateway to the rest of the world that was inaccessible to him for a large portion of his youth.Sometimes in their teenage years, the twins were finally able to leave Anville Town for their pokemon journey. Once they'd gathered all of their badges and challenged the elite four, they settled in Nimbasa and started working at Gear Station as depot agents around age 16. They remained in that position for around a decade until the previous station master retired and allowed the brothers to take over. Already thrilled by seeing their childhood dreams come to fruition, Emmet proposed that they could combine their two biggest passions (the subway & pokemon) into an official battle facility, and the Battle Subway was officially opened about a year and a half later.

Unsurprisingly, Emmet did not handle his brother's mysterious disappearance well. The only person who had always been there for him his whole life was gone with no warning, and he was all alone. Believing that something terrible must have happened as his brother as he would never up and leave him like that all of the sudden otherwise, he began searching for him immediately. Missing posters were strewn all across Unova as he frantically searched any and everywhere he could think of.Sleepless nights became increasingly frequent as he kept up his work at the subway, as well, refusing to take even a single day off. He had to keep it up and running for when Ingo came back. They had worked so hard for this and he wasn't going to give up on everything they had achieved together. Besides, people from all around Unova traveled via subway. If anyone knew anything about where Ingo might be, surely staying put and keeping an open ear to even the vaguest speculations and rumours would be his best bet. Even the tiniest bit of information could be helpful after all of his other attempts had failed.Unfortunately, the idle talk of commuters regarding his missing brother did little to help. Without Ingo around, Emmets behaviour and attitude were starting to get noticeably worse. He wasn't battling or running the subway out of love anymore. He continued on because he felt like he had to. It was all he knew how to do, and even then, he was still incredibly lost without his brother. Battling wasn't fun anymore. He missed strategizing with his best friend and walking home to their shared apartment discussing the day's wins and losses.Before, Emmet hadn't minded losing too badly. He liked winning, but sometimes losses could be equally as thrilling. It made him want to work harder so he could beat a trainer when they came back. He didn't feel the same way about losing now, though. His battles were getting increasingly intense, lacking the fun and challenging nature they had embodied in the past. He became exceedingly frustrated and angry when losing, and it wasn't long before business was dwindling and customer complaints came pouring in. They were easy enough to ignore when employees reported them to him, but they were harder to avoid when overheard in the crowd.Rumours spiraled about why Ingo had yet to return as commuters yearned for the more level headed twin to be here in Emmet's place. "I don't blame Ingo for leaving. Emmet's a lot to deal with. He probably finally had enough." "If Ingo were here instead, things wouldn't be like this." As Emmet's loneliness and frustration grew, physical altercations between him and unruly passengers became far too frequent, often resulting in his own employees having to physically hold him back to keep him from assaulting anyone who dared to comment on his behavior or speculate about his brother.Eventually, police became involved and he was forced to take a temporary leave. Without the distraction of work to keep him busy, Emmet's mental and physical health only continued to worsen, refusing to go a second without trying to bring his brother home so everything could finally be okay again.

Main Hisui Verse + Alternate Continuation of "Dead Man's Handle" ; A continuation of Dead Man's Handle. After discovering that Ingo is likely in another time one way or another, Emmet tracks down a legendary Pokemon that can help him travel back in time. (My main go to for this is Celebi or Jirachi, but that can change depending on who I'm writing with if need be.) After doing so, he is able to reunite with his brother, though they find they have no guaranteed way back home right away.

Alternate Hisui Verse (Amnesiac Addition); Emmet in Hisui with amnesia similar to Ingo's as shown in Pokemon: Legends Arceus. This can be played as either a roleswap AU with Ingo in present day, or as an AU where both twins wound up in Hisui without their memories. I like to think Diamond Clan takes Emmet in for both versions, but that can easily be changed or excluded depending on who I'm writing with! For versions where it is not roleswap and both twins are in Hisui, I typically have it follow the same backstory as my "For Campanella," except instead of tracking down a legendary to help him reach the past, he pretty much just recklessly jumped into wormholes until he made it, but lost his own memory in the process. Man, wormholes, am I right?Verse Specific Pokemon; wip but I'm definitely letting him keep some Joltiks. He's simply infected with them. Everyone is very confused about them.

Alola Emmet + Alternate Continuation of "Dead Man's Handle"; After loads of research into possible ways his brother could have vanished, Emmet has decided the most probable cause for Ingo's disappearance is something to do with Wormholes. Since Alola seems to have a very large concentration of them, he heads there for a 'vacation', aka horrible and reckless Wormhole exploration in a desperate attempt to find his brother. Both unable and unwilling to pay for his own hotel room, he crashes with Colress. Throughout his time in Alola, he accrues a large hoard of Charjabug, and somewhere along the line, A Xurkitree he encountered in one of the Wormholes has taken to following him around. Though he has never officially caught it, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.Verse Specific Pokemon; Xurkitree, Alolan Raichu, Countless chargabugs

Paldea Emmet + Alternate Continuation of "Dead Man's Handle" (Version; Post-SCVI): Some time after discovering that Ingo is likely in another time, Emmet learns about the destroyed time machine in Paldea and travels there to investigate. He spends most his time situated in the crater trying and failing to fix it, like a weird little cave hermit. He's just a little local cryptid. He knows basic engineering, but that machine is one thousand percent way too complicated for him, so he's kind of just a weird little local cryptid.Verse Specific Pokemon; Slither Wing, Scream Tail, Paldean Wooper, Rotom Phone, Koraidon (Not Official/Formal)

Splatoon AU; One of two twin octoling conductors of a specialized train within the deep sea metro that hosts turf wars on board as well as assisting in general travel. Emmet and his broher had always been fascinated with turf wars as a sport, (as well as other competitive battles like clam blitz, splat zones, etc), but as they were born into a world were tensions between Inklings and Octolings were still incredibly high due to DJ Octavio and the Octavian Military, they never dared to go to the surface and often remained as elusive as possible to avoid being forcibly drafted. After seeking shelter in the metro for so long, they eventually fixed up some old abandoned subway cars for their 'Turf Train', improving and expanding over time. They offered other non deployed Octolings a chance to enjoy surface games while tensions were still high, and before it felt safe to travel to the surface. Emmet has always considered him and Ingo in direct competition with C.Q. Cumber, and is often jealous of his trains getting more passengers than theirs. Splatoon 2-3 Era; In the time since Octolings have become more normalized and accepted above ground, there has been less of a need for turf wars below the surface, and although the twins still offer it as a service, most days their train isn't much different than any of the other subway cars. Emmet is rather bittersweet about the whole thing, grateful for the fun times he had and was able to share, but disappointed that their service doesn't get as much business as it used to.

The World Ends With You AU; Emmet and Ingo's fees during the Reaper's Game were essentially each other + their memories of the other, making it impossible for the pair to be partners in an attempt to make them learn how to function as individuals and form relationships with people that weren't the other. Though they both made it through the Game with their partners, only one person is allowed to go back that week. Emmet "wins" with the most points, but refuses to leave his brother behind, and the two choose to be Reapers together instead of one going back without the other or having to play another week apart.
